Subtitles as a separate file

Do the Ipods support subtitles in a separate file?  Like .srt files are used for .avi movies..

Is it possible?

Re: Subtitles as a separate file

I'm not sure what you mean ?
If you want to watch subtitles on a movie on your ipod then you will have to hardcode/burn the subtitles into the .mp4 file.

But before you burn/hardcode them into the movie, then they will be a separate file (.srt, .sub)

Re: Subtitles as a separate file

Not possible. You need to hard code the subtitles if you want to see them on your ipod.

Re: Subtitles as a separate file

according to this patch:

http://lists.mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/ffmpeg-devel/2009-January/059138.html

you should be able to mux subtitles for iPod now using ffmpeg.

I might check it out later see if I can do it with Miracle at St Anna.

try not to double post...you can edit your post and add the details
